Nationwide Ozempic Dangerous Drug Lawyers
Helping Injured Victims Recover Losses
It seems everyone has heard of the weight loss medication, Ozempic. While it was initially created to manage type II diabetes, Ozempic users also experienced the side effect of rapid weight loss. Unfortunately, Ozempic and other GLP-1 RA medications that contain semaglutide or tirzepatide can cause serious digestive problems and other complications. You may be eligible for compensation if you became ill after taking Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro or Zepbound and you required hospitalization.
The Joel Bieber Firm has years of experience helping injured clients recover compensation for their damages. Medical bills, lost wages from time off work, and permanent disabilities can lead to thousands of dollars in debt. If you have suffered financial losses because of the side effects of a drug, you deserve to seek compensation. Contact our legal team today for a free consultation about your case.
What is Ozempic?
The class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists or GLP-1 RAs work by mimicking the naturally occurring GLP-1 hormone that is released in the gastrointestinal tract in response to eating, assisting the pancreas in making more insulin. Ozempic and other GLP-1 RAs inhibit the motility of the stomach and the small intestines, in addition to pyloric contraction, which slows gastric emptying. As the hormone increases, your brain tells you your body is full, leading to a lower appetite and slower digestion. The drug was originally geared toward managing type II diabetes but has quickly become popular as a “magical” weight loss drug.
Unfortunately, using GLP-1 RAs such as Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound can cause severe side effects not sufficiently warned of in their labels.
What Are the Side Effects of Ozempic?
Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic, Rybelsus and Wegovy, and Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Mounjaro and Zepbound, are both GLP-1 RAs that help regulate blood sugar and increase insulin secretion. However, this can inhibit the motility of the stomach and the small intestines, which slows gastric emptying, increasing the risk of stomach paralysis, also called gastroparesis.
Other risks of taking Ozempic and other GLP-1 RAs include:
- Bowel obstruction
- Intestinal obstruction
- Persistent vomiting
- Ileus
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
- Intraoperative pulmonary aspiration
The warning labels on these medications may not have mentioned these side effects or their potential severity. If you were not properly warned about the risk to your health when using Ozempic or other GLP-1 RAs, you may be entitled to compensation.
What Should You Do if Ozempic Caused Your Illness or Injury?
If you have taken Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro or Zepbound, and have suffered side effects, there are a few steps you need to take, including:
Seek Medical Attention
Some side effects can have adverse effects on your health or even be deadly. If you are suffering any illnesses or injuries because of Ozempic or other GLP-1 RAs, seek medical attention from a medical professional immediately.
Talk to Your Doctor About Your Prescription
If you have bad side effects, your doctor will likely switch your medication or lower your dosage. Ask your doctor about your side effects and what steps to take next.
Get Copies of Your Medical Records
Ask your doctor to provide copies of your medical records that state the side effects you are having because of Ozempic or other GLP-1 RAs. You can use these records later to prove the extent of your injury or illness. You may also want to safely store your used injection pens or prescription bottles or take pictures of them.

How Can an Attorney Help?
Ozempic and other GLP-1 RAs have become extremely popular in the past few years with the main focus on the weight loss benefits but not adverse side effects. Unfortunately, adverse side effects can range from mild to severe and debilitating, and many innocent individuals are not properly warned about the potential risks they are taking to their health that may be chronic or permanent. If you have suffered any adverse side effects that required hospitalization when using Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro or Zepbound, you may be able to seek compensation.
