THE JOEL BIEBER FIRM FILES SUIT AGAINST ROBLOX AND META

RICHMOND, VA — April 21, 2026 — The Joel Bieber Firm, a Richmond, Virginia-based plaintiffs’ litigation firm, has filed suit in California against Roblox Corporation and Meta Platforms, Inc. on behalf of a San Diego family whose then-11-year-old daughter was sexually groomed, exploited, and coerced into producing explicit video content by adult predators who weaponized both platforms to target her.

We are seeing the same pattern repeat itself across the country.

The case, filed April 13, 2026, is the latest action by The Joel Bieber Firm in what has become one of the most significant areas of child protection litigation in the country — and further cements the firm’s position as a national leader in holding major technology companies accountable for the sexual exploitation of children on their platforms.

According to the lawsuit, two predators gained access to Jane Doe through Roblox and Instagram where they groomed her and exploited her into participating in sexually explicit video chats. In August 2025, Jane’s mother discovered the conduct and immediately notified law enforcement.

“This appointment carries a profound responsibility, and it is a privilege to advocate on behalf of such deserving plaintiffs”

The lawsuit alleges that the harm Jane suffered was the direct and foreseeable result of deliberate business decisions by both Roblox and Meta to prioritize revenue over child safety.

Melissa Hague, Esq., Director of the Sexual Assault Division, and Melissa Ephron, a complex litigation trial attorney and sexual assault attorney, are representing this family.

“These consequences were the foreseeable result of Defendants Roblox and Meta’s deliberate conduct that prioritized profits over child safety,” said Hague.  “The effects were devastating and have affected every aspect of this child’s life.”

The Joel Bieber Firm has a growing national footprint in litigation targeting the failure of major digital platforms to protect children. The firm, with offices in Virginia Beach, VA; Towson, MD; Greenville, SC; Tryon, NC; and Philadelphia, PA, is actively representing families in the landmark federal multidistrict litigation (MDL) currently consolidating over 150 federal cases filed nationwide before Chief Judge Richard Seeborg in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

In February 2026, attorney Melissa Hague was appointed to serve on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in re: Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation, MDL No. 3166 — one of the most significant child protection MDLs in the country. As a member of the court-appointed leadership structure, Hague is responsible for coordinating discovery, retaining experts, and ensuring that trauma-informed practices are implemented throughout the proceedings on behalf of plaintiffs nationwide.

The San Diego filing reflects the firm’s continued commitment to pursuing justice for individual families who were victims of child online exploitation.

“We are seeing the same pattern repeat itself across the country — children targeted, groomed, and abused through platforms that had every resource to prevent it and chose not to act,” said Joel Bieber, Esq., Founding Partner of The Joel Bieber Firm. “This firm will not stop bringing these cases until these companies are held to account.”
